The MP for Mochudi East, Isaac Davids, has died. He was allegedly murdered by his herd boys in a fight that ensued at his farm in Sorilatholo in the Kweneng District on Sunday. Police in the area have confirmed the MP’s death. Davids had recently defected from the opposition Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) to join the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). Letlhakeng Police station commander Daniel Katse told a Monday newspaper that: “Yes the allegations are true. We are investigating the MP’s death. I can’t at this moment disclose any details into the matter because investigations are still at the initial stage,” he said. The two suspects appeared before Molepolole Magistrate on Monday. In a statement The AP Young Progressives Deputy Secretary General Phemelo Kedumele said: “We have learnt with sadness, of the tragic passing of Mochudi East MP, Isaac Davids. Honourable Davids was part of the opposition in 2014 general elections, before defecting to the ruling party late last year.
