Francistown City Council (FCC) has projected to work on an estimated budget of P4 640 750 to maintain both streetlights and traffic signals on a routine basis during the forthcoming 2018/19 financial year. Giving a summary of income and expenditure when presenting the 2018/19 budget estimates in the council chambers last Wednesday, the city’s Finance Committee chairperson Zibanani Benfield said there is need to keep the city bright. “This vote (of P4 640 750) caters for the repair and routine maintenance of streetlights and traffic signals by the City of Francistown Council’s maintenance crew together with private contractors,” Benfield told the special full council session. According to Benfield, the country’s second largest city has seen an increase in the number of streetlights and traffic signal junctions, as a result of the recently completed rehabilitation of the Francistown-Tonota road.
