
Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) will host the inaugural Girls Excelling in Science and Maths (GEMS)mentorship workshop billed for the 23rd-26th April 2018 at the main campus in Palapye. The four days mentorship and motivational workshop is aimed at Form 4 female students across the country who are studying pure sciences and aspire to venture into a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related career. The overarching objective of the programme is to provide a platform for the young GEMS to interact, share ideas and have mentors at BIUST to help cultivate their passion in STEM. The Guest Speakers and Programme Mentors will give presentations on various topics such as Careers in STEM, Aptitude versus Attitude, Building a Strong CV, Networking, Volunteering, and Preparing for Leadership, and Positive Self-Image & Confidence. Groups and one-on-one mentorship will be conducted throughout this event. The Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, will grace the occasion and deliver a Keynote Address on the topic; “Why we need women in innovation and development of industries”
