Princess Marina Hospital on Sunday sent nine patients to India to do kidney and bone marrow transplants. Five patients will undergo kidney transplants at Apollo Hospitals while four will get bone marrow transplant. They are expected back after two months. The patients are accompanied by a Senior Medical Officer, Transplant Coordinator and a Laboratory Scientist. Ministry of Health signed an agreement with Apollo Hospitals from India in September 2014 and the agreement is for a period of five years. Ever since the agreement commenced, nine people got kidney transplants and one bone marrow transplant. Prior to the agreement, four people had done kidney transplants.
