Satellite South councillor,Godisang Radisigo has been elected the new Francistown Mayor over the weekend during a BDP caucus that was held at Adansonia hotel. Radisigo garnered 9 votes out of 16 BDP councillors while his opponent,Itekeng ward councillor, youthful Lesego Kwambala got 4 votes. Ramolotsana Gaethusi of Tati Town ward was elected the deputy mayor after he received 11 votes followed by councillor Gopolang Almando who received 4 votes while specially elected councillor,Modiri Jojo Lucas managed a paltry 1 vote. The new leadership will be sworn in this coming Wednesday at a full council meeting. Radisigo was the deputy mayor during Sylvia Muzila's reign. One councillor who attended the meeting said Francistown West MP,Ignatius Moswaane was fiercely campaigning for his close ally, councillor Almando to win against Gaethusi but he failed to convince majority of councillors to vote for Almando. The councillor revealed that Gaethusi and Moswaane are not in good terms and the legislator was secretly de-campaigning Gaethusi during the recent general elections.
