Princess Marina Hospital on Thursday – May 26 – buried 71 unclaimed fetuses and one adult corpse. The corpses were buried at Ledumang Cemetery. “The corpses were not claimed over a period of two years since 2013. Most of the fetuses are from foreign nationals who did not have proper identification documents but had to be assisted because they were emergency cases. The main reason for the burial is because the corpses were unknown and unclaimed. This has resulted with the Marina mortuary being congested. The public is therefore urged to know the whereabouts of their relatives at all times and to honour requests to view dead and unknown people when requested to do so,” said Donnell Kutlapye, the hospital’s Chief Communications and Public Relations Officer.
