The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is expected to discuss the reforms which were presented by the Party Secretary General Botsalo Ntuane during the 2015 elective congress in Mmadinare. Addressing members of the press, Ntuane revealed that the party central committee will over the weekend have a meeting to look at the reforms. “We have invited some experts to come and help us dissect the reforms and give advice on how to implement some of them,” he revealed. Some of the reforms proposed by Ntuane in his campaign document titled ‘BDP Reform Agenda Conversation; 22 Discussion Points’ is for the ruling party to consider to consider political party funding and the introduction of proportional representation. Another reform that Ntuane advocated for is for the party to play an active role in government. “We must advocate for a strong activist Central Committee and this means recalibrating our relations with government; the party must reclaim its authority over government. The party must lead government and not be subordinate as is the case presently. The voice of the party must be heard loud and clear on every single issue,” he insisted.
