
Botho University College Management this week addressed the press about the recent students’ strikes that hit both their Gaborone and Francistown campuses due to students’ complaints about book allowances and unaccredited courses that students had enrolled for. The Vice Chancellor of the University Raja Ram has confirmed that some of their programmes are not accredited even though they reveal the number of such courses. She said that is not a process that should worry anyone because as Botho University they are complying and they have always been – which is one of the things that have made them to get the BOS ISO certificate. She said the outrage from students is unfortunate because they have tried in many occasions to try and talk to them but they have not been able to reach an amicable consensus with them. “We even engaged Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) which wrote them a letter but the SRC for some reason chose not to believe what the letter was saying even though BQA even put the statement in local papers,” she said.
