
Botswana Congress Party (BCP) president Dumelang Saleshando is reportedly so concerned about the ugly fallout between Botswana People’s Party (BPP) and the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC). It is said that a concerned Saleshando tore into BPP/UDC storm when addressing a closed door meeting held at Setlalekgosi Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Francistown last Saturday. Saleshando confirmed that he is concerned about the manner in which the BPP registered its displeasure over the allocation of constituencies ahead of the 2019 General Elections. BCP has entered into a coalition agreement with the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD), BPP and the Botswana National Front (BNF) to form the UDC with the view of enjoying a combined force in the forthcoming general elections. The combined opposition intends to dethrone the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) from power. BDP has been in power since the country’s independence in 1966. However, the coalition is faced with a hurdle to deal with, as BPP has expressed discontentment with the four constituencies allocated to them.
