The MP for Selibe Phikwe West Dithapelo Keorapetse has warned government that should they proceed with Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) they will be no elections in 2019. Debating the budget for Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Keorapetse said they will not only boycott the elections but will ensure elections are not held. "We will not just boycott the elections. We will make sure there are no elections,” hit out Keorapetse, adding that even soldiers are supporting them. One of the reasons soldiers won’t be on the side of government should the EVM be introduced, according to Keorapetse, is that the current government has been abusing them and not attending to their welfare. “Just check who are councillors or MPs in areas where there are army camps and is clear they also don’t want you,” said the Selibe Phikwe West MP whose constituency covers Botswana Defence Force (BDF) Eastern Military Garrison.
