
Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) President Ian Khama has reportedly said that his party will bounce back to win the 2019 General Elections with a landslide, dismissing the 53 percent attained by the opposition in 2014 elections as protest votes by his party members. “We will prove this in the 2019 elections by winning with a landslide. We are going to hit them where it hurts the most in 2019,” Khama said this at the opening of the party Youth Wing council meeting in Mosu village. Khama enumerated the heavy recruitment drive that the party is undertaking, saying “I am pleased to recognise that our efforts at recruiting talented and active young people, led by the Party Chairman, have borne fruit. So far, in excess of 400 new members were recruited in Gaborone South alone. More than 50 of the core activists of the Opposition have been recruited in Gaborone North. The ripple effect of these recruitments have been felt and are taking effect nationally. In Mogoditshane constituency, an elected councillor was recruited. With BMD, we paralysed the Youth Wing.
