
United States Congress delegation is currently visiting Botswana, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday. The delegation is led by Senator Jeff Flake and would include four other senators and a member of the US House of Representatives. Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Tebelelo Babereki said in a statement that the delegation was visiting several southern African countries with a view to appreciating the challenges caused by wildlife poaching and trafficking in the region. The delegation will also hold discussions with the Government of Botswana on political and economic issues, as well as defence and security matters. It is expected to visit Kasane on Wednesday and meet with the BDF Joint Task Force commander, Esrael Mbangwe. The delegation was to meet with Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi, Defense, Justice, Defence and Security Minister Shaw Kgathi, and Environment, Wildlife and Tourism Minister Tshekedi Khama.
