The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Secretary General Botsalo Ntuane has announced that he will be defending his position at the Tonota Congress but not as a member of any faction. This means that he is not running under Nonofho Molefhi faction as was previously suspected. In his latest Facebook post on the matter, Ntuane said: “Hello democrats/well-wishers. Since yesterday I've been inundated by calls and messages enquiring if I am running as additional member of the Central Committee (CC) at Tonota 2017. Kindly note nothing has changed. I am running for Secretary General (SG) and as was the case at Mmadinare 2015 I will not be contesting under any lobby list because I don't think they assist in promoting our unity as democrats.”
