Vehicle theft hits Masunga
Vehicle thefts have reportedly resurfaced at Masunga and surrounding villages. The latest incidents of theft came at a time when authorities in the area were dealing with the previous ones. Towards the end of 2015 and early last year, vehicles belonging to the North East District Council (NEDC), Tati Land Board and Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) were lost to acts of criminality. Seven vehicles were stolen. Only two vehicles were recovered in Zimbabwe’s second largest city Bulawayo. On the 26th of April 2017, police at Masunga received a report about a stolen Honda Fit vehicle and started investigations. While still investigating the incident, the police received another report almost a month later. “It is true that the police here are investigating two incidents of car thefts. The first one allegedly happened late last month and the second incident took place on May 17 this year,” confirmed the acting Masunga Police Station Commander, Assistant Superintended Vincent Tebogo. Tebogo added: “The police here are investigating two incidents in which two privately owned Honda Fit vehicles were stolen. However, no arrests have been made so far but investigations are ongoing.” He could not confirm or deny that the suspects might be cross-border criminals.…
