The Minister of Transport and Communications, Kitso Mokaila says he is aware that maintenance of Mohembo-Gudigwa road does not include gravelling for the entire length of the road. Mokaila was responding to Okavango region’s Kgosi Disho Ndhowe, who had asked if the ministry was aware that the current road maintenance plan to dry grade Mohembo-Gudigwa road did not include gravelling. Mokaila explained that the faults would be fixed through corrective and ongoing maintenance. He said maintenance of the road had been outsourced to four contractors within the district for a period of 12 months, who are expected to remedy any defects, while maintaining the road in good order. He further said that spot improvement (gravelling) under the current maintenance contract would ultimately address the bad sections along the road that were severely affected by the recent rains.
