
Princess Marina Hospital has just completed a round of cardiac procedures for 30 patients. The procedures ran from February 18 – 26, 2016. Seven patients underwent open heart surgeries, 21 did angiograms while two got pacemakers. “All patients who got pacemakers and angiograms have been discharged from hospital while those who underwent open heart operations remain admitted for observation. The procedures were conducted in conjunction with the Mauritius Medical Team from the Cardiac Centre at Pamplemousse, Mauritius. Mauritius Medical Team partnered with Princess Marina Hospital since 2009. So far 115 open heart surgeries, 25 insertion of pacemakers (batteries), 233 angiograms, 19 stents (insertion of wires) and over 500 heart scans have been conducted,” said the hospital spokesperson, Donnell Kutlapye.
