The Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) celebrated the World Metrology Day on Friday under theme was ‘Measurement for Transports’, in which they alerted locals about the importance of measurements. BOBS Director Commercial Enterprises, Keeper Morgan, said people should understand the role they play in measurements. He said the International Bureau of Weight and Measurements is key in working with national metrology institutes to deal with issues around measurements. “The International Organisation for Legal Metrology regulates regulators around the globe on the basis of practice in regard to manufacturers and others to ensure that they adopt measurements that are in compliance,” he said. He said they continue to deal with measurements by controlling measurements of all modes of transport from bicycles to flights. He said it is important to know the emissions of each kind of transport, the fuel they use and each and every aspect of them. According to Morgan, good areas of research are very important in enhancing the efficiency of all those services.
