BPP’s demand to UDC
Ambitious Botswana Peoples’ Party (BPP) is reportedly putting contingency plans in place for any eventuality following its request to have more constituencies being allocated to it. BPP, an affiliate of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), was allocated four constituencies to contest in the 2019 General Elections. Botswana National Front (BNF) got the lion’s share of 22 constituencies followed by Botswana Congress Party (BCP) which was allocated 17 while Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) has 14. Constituencies allocated to BPP are Tati West, Tati East, Serowe South and Serowe North. However, the country’s oldest political grouping feels cheated and wants four more constituencies. BPP has since forwarded its request to the UDC demanding to be allocated Nata-Gweta, Francistown West, Gaborone South and Mmadinare constituencies.
