
The twelve disgruntled Francistown City Council (FCC) councilors have secretly withdrawn their intention to approach Francistown High Court after failing to table their motion of no-confidence against the city’s mayor Sylvia Muzila. The disgruntled councilors had tried in vain on three different occasions at the beginning of June to snatch the mayoral chain from Muzila because they couldn’t garner enough votes to table the motion. After failing to accumulate the necessary votes, the councilors resorted to taking the matter to High Court for arbitration, arguing that they were not fairly treated. The councilors accused the town clerk, Mompati Seleka of vehemently defending the mayor who “flout the council’s standing orders at will.” Seleka told the councilors that the motion did not gather the required two thirds majority as per the council standing orders. However, it has also emerged that the aggrieved councilors failed to approach the high court. The councilors had allegedly approached Olatotse Solomon Attorneys with a view to give them instructions. Musa Solomon of Olatotse Solomon Attorneys confirmed that they had been approached by the councilors with instructions.
